Crossing the Boarder. Turkey to Iran in Jan

Anyone know if it would be blocked by snow, or do they keep this pass open 365 days a year

Cheers for your help.

As far as I know the crossing is open all year, but the road is closed temporarily during or after heavy snow falls.

It is kept open. But will be very snowy and very very cold.
Think about it !

i agree with the previous 2 posts. the border is open all time but the roads might be closed and might be very cold. -20 degree celcius. or more in the winter especially eastern Turkiye. summer is fine. actually over-warm (+40 degree celcius or more)

similar plan

i'm glad you've posted. I'm planning a similar trip for this fall, but from what i've seen here, i'll do all in my power to push the departure date up a bit. i'm from canada and i've ridden in sub zero temperatures. it's not fun.

Don't know what the border will be like in January but I can guess - it was -8 degrees C when I was in Tabriz in late October!
