Crossing Lake Tanganyika
Anyone have any info about putting a vehicle (in my case a Land Rover 110) on a ferry crossing Lake Tanganyika north to south, from Burundi down to Zambia?
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers. |
Can't help I'm afraid just interested in the answer!

Maybe we're all checking to see if you were heading into eastern DR Congo which after reading Blood River, I wouldn't fancy.
Sorry I can't help. I hope you do it. |
I don't think it's possible. I was recently in Malawi (on a bike) and I seem to remember being told that the ferry isn't big enough for vehicles. This was from a couple who'd driven south down the western edge of Tanzania instead of going on a ferry. They said the road was quite bumpy and they were certainly out in the sticks for a few days but it was passbale. (I guess that changes though)
Soory I can't be more helpful but I "think" you'd have to drive south. |
(unfortunately) That matches all I have been able to find out as well LG - thanks very much for the knowledge; too bad, but seems no other way ...
Appreciate your input. Cheers, WR |
