Detailed Maps of the Balkans?
Hello :)
So, I am going to the Balkans in July/August. I plan on staying mainly off of paved roads and I am not a fan of GPS, either (don't get me wrong, it's a great system - nevertheless I decided against it for this trip). So, can anyone here recommend any ver detailed maps showing most roads/paths? I am especially looking for maps of the countries written in bold (I will vivst the others, too but won't stay too long in those as I've visited them before): Germany/ Poland/ Slovakia/ Hungary/ Romania/ Bulgaria/ Mazedonia/ Albania/ Montenegro/ Bosnia/ Croatia/ Slovenija/ Publishers, ISBN numbers, whatever you got, let me know, please :helpsmilie: Thanks, Toby |
In my view, the best are RKH (Reise Know How) maps. Reasonably up to date and pretty tear resistant/waterproof.
Western Balkans region (Westliche Balkanregion) is 1:725000 and individual country versions are available with more detail. e.g. Serbia (Serbien) at 1:385000. Buy from Amazon or similar. Happy exploring! |
+1 on the Reise Know-How maps. Tough and waterproof, you may prefer more detail but they work for me.

I like Michelin maps for their marking of scenic routes and have just bought number 736 which covers Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia. I cannot compare it to the others recommended here but have always found Michelin accurate and reliable.

Sounds good, I will have a look at the Reise Knowhow maps (I already know the Michelin maps, thanks for the hint, in spite of that).
Thanks for you replies :thumbup1: |
