Distances with Google Earth
I've seen many "how far is it questions" here, and found a great way to answer them. Download Google Earth. Zoom to see the region you want to traverse, and go to the TOOLS menu and select MEASURE. In the MEASURE window, select PATH, then click on the map at your start point, and on each place you want to visit along your route. A running total in miles, kilometers, or even smoots will be kept in the window!

way to save
have you found out a way to save those paths yet?
So for example you could then save it as a route for other people to 'fly over', or so that you could compile a group of routes? |
if you get google earth plus ($20 or so, I think), you can map routes and points and regions. I love it. I'm always looking stuff up on it and planning fantasy routes.
