Dubai To Uk weather,Visas

I am still planning to leave the UAE and ride back to the uk via Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Uk
This was trip that I was planning to ride in the summer months I am now brining this forward to end of Feb beginning of March. the Issue in doing this I think will be the weather crossing into Russia then riding through Europe that time of year. Has any one ridden that route or around that area at that time of year.

Any info for this trip would be much appreciated.

Also any info about visas.
Am I right in thinking that the only visas i need in advance would be Iran Russia and the Ukraine.

As I am going to export the bike by riding it back the Auto Club here in Dubai are telling me that I dont need a carnet. Any one any thoughts.

Any help or info would be great.

Peter

Hi Peter, I did Qatar-UK via UAE and Iran, check out www.qatarrider.weebly.com.

You will need a carnet for Iran, we had to pay a 50,000 Dhiram bail bond, you will need a visa in advance for Iran, use Samira at www.PersiaTours.com she can fix everything and is very pleasant. You need the patience of a saint to get the booking on the ferry from Sharjah, phone before hand, then turn up on Saturday afternoon, then again on Sunday afternoon, then get on board, leaves at about 10pm. Much the same when you get to Bandar Abbas, allow 8 hours for importing, a tortuous process, read Dean's blog for the name of a good contact. You do not need Iranian plates for a motorbike. You cannot get insurance when you are there. Otherwise Iran is great, spend more time in the south and less in the north, the south is much more relaxed. Rob

I exported my bike as well and was told I had to have the carnet, which was certainly requested in Iran, and by the shippers in Sharjah. If you can get away without one, well done, as you have to return it to Dubai and then get the money returned to the bank you withdrew it from, and if you've left the country, that could be fun!

hi

Hi guys when you say you had to pay a 50,000AED bail bond did you get that money back,

reading more info on carnets it does not apply to importing into a country.

The problem with here in Dubai is that the automobile club will not issue a canet as i am exporting.

Really get confusing.

Cheers Peter
