I planing the same kind of Trip in about 5 years time von now!
In the moment I like to go with the east coast, main reason is that I like to go via Turkey and the Iran!

Have you looked at the links I posted up - it was a complete circuit of Africa, down the west and up the east, with the ferry across to Saudi.
He was the first motorcyclist to take the ferry crossing after Saudi opened up to tourists.
