I plan to travel around France for 5 weeks in June / July 2006 on the bike. No fixed plans. But I am interested to hear of any particular special events that may be on anywhere.

Just across the border in Italy the Stella Alpina Rally. There is a link in the bike events forum here on HUBB. Note that the poster is organising a trip, but it is an unorganised rally in the good old sense, so there is no registration, etc. You just turn up and camp and socialise.

around july 14th there will be many firework displays ( bastille day ) Locally they have it in their park which is set in a valley. every one picnics atthe top to see the rockets explode in front of you.. Is always free. some towns/village recreational areas also offer free to very cheap camping. nice atmosphere.
