From Belgium to Nepal

Hi,

We are a Belgian couple and we are planning a trip to Nepal from Belgium. We would like to leave as soon as possible with a discovery 4, but we need to know if it's even feasible to leave in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone done this route? Our biggest concern is traveling through Pakistan and the visa's.

How long does it take to get all the visa's? We only need the ones for Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal and maybe even Bhutan.

How long does the trip take?

Thanks in advance!

Veronica

Well, how long is a piece of string.....

For me, it was about 10500kms from north Germany to Pakistan/India border (via Turkey/Iran). I think it took me some 7 weeks to get there. Some spend much more time on that route, and others can do it much faster than I did, including a Czech couple on a 4x4, who probably went to India in just a couple of weeks, but they did long, long days on the road.

Upcoming elections in Iran might spice things up a bit. Your alternative route is to go from Kyrgyzstan to China and then into Pakistan via the Karakoram Highway, but this means your vehicle has to get into China, and you´re gonna need an approved guide while you travel inside China, so it´s a hassle and costs some money, too.

Also you need to get all the visa and carnet stuff sorted out - I will be driving from Nepal back to Germany in about 1 month and it took me about 3 months to get all the that stuff!

I will be doing the trip in 1,5 - 2 Months which is actually not a lot but I dont have more time :(

Hi Chris!

I want to do the opposite way into Nepal, but calculating on 4-5 months (while speeding up my travell speed tremendously considering past travells)
I'm very interested if you'll make it within that mentioned time frame!?
Do you have a lot of travell experience and been to the countries in between before?

Take care

Alex
