Georgia-Chechnya
Hi folks,
I'm planing trip through Russia to Turkey and I want to know what is political situation inc Chechenya and Georgia. Is it safe to travel in this countries. Otherwise I must take ferry from Sochi to Trabzon. |
There is no passage between Russia to Georgia or vice versa.
If you like to travel to Turkiye, you need to take a ferry. |
Then we will yust take the ferry. Where can I get any information about the price? I can find very diferent informations abot the prices, from very cheap to very expensive.
One more question. Is it possbile to enter into Armenia from Turkey? Regards Gregor |
There is some info here about ferries: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...o-turkey-42885
There is no pass between Turkiye and Armenia but from Georgia and Iran. You can pass to Georgia first and then to Armenia. Some rumors about the border will be opened but not before the new year I guess. |
Hi Samy,
What about crossing border Turkey-Georgia, is this also a problem ? As I can see is this realy complicated area :) |

There is no problem at all at passing between two countries ! Only problem is between Russia-Georgia and Armenia-Turkiye at the moment. |
at present, as a westerner, you cannot cross the caucasus range in any way. The crossings via Abkhazia, Ossetia and thru Dagestan (frome either georgia or azerbaijan) are all closed to foreigners.
A boat from Turkey to Russia is the only way. Try to get a boat to Novorossiysk ... i have heard bad things about the Sochi customs guys. Chechnya itself is apparently fine these days. I was in Dagestan earlier this year, and the locals are saying Chechnya has completely returned to normality.... by Chechen standards. Beware of Ingushetia ... its a bit of a mess at present, and Ossetia is full of roadblocks. |
