Expensive

Further to an earlier posting, the rail trip up the Zugspitz is now nearly £100 per person for the return journey on the train inside the mountain: so much for the £-Euro exchange rate.

a suggestion for in the Harz, try this hotel.
Harmonie-Hotel Waldesruh - Bikers welcome
i stayed there about march time, its run by a British couple who loved it out there so much they stayed. Simon is an ex bike jurno amongst other things & knows the roads like the back of his hand. just a warning if you do his tours then dont expect to sight see, its more of a race :scooter:
lovely little town he is based in though, im going back when i can & hopefully for longer to see more of the area.

I would definately book in advance to avoid disappointment. I think cost wise you are looking at somewhere in the region of £60 each (one of the more expensive moto gps') They have a little write up in this weeks MCN about going to european moto gp rounds, and they give some information about the Sachsenring. Apparently there is good camping facilities close by.

Although i think tickets can be obtained from a variety of sources, i booked mine through the Sachsenring website;

Sachsenring Circuit

In the article in MCN they give a list of recommended viewing spots.

Another suggestion for your trip - the Nurburgring - Petrol head heaven......

I wish i was heading off myself now!

Germany Trip 2008

Hi All,

I'd like to thank everyone who made suggestions on where we should go while in Germany. We had a great time travelling but as usual it was far far too short! Boo Hoo! :(

Highlights include... :thumbup1:

Harz Mountains - nice roads and medieval towns
Eisanach - Wartburg
Schwangau - Neuschwanstien & Alps, including quick run in Austria
Black Forrest - lovelly roads and beautiful
Rhine & Mossell - nice roads, castle's etc everywhere... lots of speed limits!
Nurburgring - here you will find all of the British Bikers!

We did just over 2000 miles and had about 4 days of rain and a freek hail storm in Austria - they were huge! - so make sure you take your waterproofs including gloves and boots because... boy does it rain there!

We are now looking forward to our next trip which is sadly not until next summer... Oh well! Hopefully the year will go quickly!

Thanks once again,

Beej :mchappy:
