germany to novosibirsk

we are planning a trip from germany to siberia and back starting by the end of may. best would be to transport the bikes by plane to barnaul or novosibirsk and ride them back.
has anybody done this before already from germany (or somewhere else in europe)?
which airline did you use?
how was the procedure to get the bikes out of the customs. any problems?
what paperwork is necessary in advance?
anybody interested to join?
if there is response, more questions should follow.

Want some more advice about your trip to Novosibirsk, I suggest you go to the Bernd Tesch Rally (see his website), this year on 21-23 April, just across the border from Aachen in Malmedy, Belgium. There are usually some 300 long distance travellers present (camping), and some of them, including myself, have been there and done most of it.

thx for the hint, werner. in fact i have been there several times already. it is only a one hour´s ride from where i live.
i like socializing and the camp-fire thing, but sitting in the pub all day listening to self-adulations and color slide shows is boring for me.
nevertheless hope to meet you there. i ride a black/yellow R100GS with a german AC-GC.. registration plate.

Looking forward to see you at the TeschTreff. I'll be giving a presentation, not a boring one, I hope. But there is comfort: the beer in the pub is always plentiful and good, particularly the Weissbier.
