Gilgit And Chitral Pakistan

Anyone got any ideas if its safe to ride into Chitral and Gilgit in Pakistan, Ive heard varying reports that these ares are out of bounds to travel at the moment because theyre too dangerous. Anyone been there recently. Thanks
