GPS routes Pyrenees off road
Hi,
I'm new to the forum so this may well be posted in the wrong place. Me and a friend are planning to ride from cheshire (U.K) down to the pyrenees via the West coast of france. Once we get there the plan is to do about 5 days of off road on the vast network of trails/pistes. Any paper maps/pdf's/gps files (I have a satmap) of the offroad sections in spain/andorra or even france would be a real help. By the way we are going to be on an 09 XT 660 tenere and a brand new F800 GS fully loaded up so we dont want to be hitting anything stupidly technical. Thanks in advance. Sam |

We rode Portugal last May, some of the tracks were tough but not beyond the Tenere's ability (but sometimes beyond mine!). Like you we were fully loaded, overloaded some might say.... I've nothing on the Pyrenees, but if you fancy Portugal I can dig out some GPS routes for you. and...... if you are just transiting France, you might want to give some consideration to taking a ferry to Bilbao/Santander as France can be a real 'mare and the costs work out about the same taking tolls/fuel/accomodation into account. |

take a look at wikiloc.com. Here's what looks like a nice one http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc view.do?id=1495443 that you can modify to suit. Cheers, John |
Thanks a lot for the rapid responses all info taken on board.
Gas up: Thanks for the advice, I think we might do portugal next year, how long/how much was the ferry to Portugal and where abouts is the best riding. RedBoots: That website is amazing, exactly what ive been looking for, Ilooked a little further and found a route that's 900 odd miles trans pyrenees, there's almost too much choice on there. The only other thing I was after is a kit list, I've done a lot of camping so I know whats needed for that side but I'm sure we will manage to forget essentials for biking if we don't use/make a kit list. Cheers, Sam |

SAM,
I intend to do the exact same thing this October on my fully laden F800GS. Please tell me how things went on your trip and what you took with you!! Any roots you can reccomend? How did the BM cope? Cheers |

I'm doing a similar thing on my R1200GS Adventure in September, but on the Spanish side only... have you any routes, tips, warnings etc? |
Hey Balistic
Did you go? How did you find the trails on the 1200. I'm planning to go in June so am trying to find information and good gs friendly trails
