india/laos/thailand to mongolia
 

Hello,
we're currently in South Africa and are going to Asia.

We're not taking the bike into China..too expensive.
So I want to get the bike to Mongolia.
Im not sure what's the best place to this. From India or From Thailand or Laos.
I can always fly the bike over but thats going too cost a lot of money again and since we're visiting China it doesnt have to be fast in Mongolia.

So anybody any experience in getting a bike from india/laos/thailand to mongolia on a train, truck, .... ?
And think its is possible (and no too expensive) to let them stock the bike in Mongolia until we arrive?

I think there was someone here at the HUBB, who recently freighted a bike from Ulan Bator to Bangkok.

Freighting is most convenient, and often most cost-efficient, too, when you operate between major transportation 'hubs'... of those, Bangkok is one. So is New Delhi, for example. But I doubt Ulan Bator really is, though it's probably possible to arrange your shipment to go there. But I'm guessing it will not be cheap.

well not a lot info on that route.
Guess I'll look into it from Bankok or New Dehli
