India maps?

Please help! I'm going to be touring Kerala in a couple of weeks and can't find any decent maps - apart from looking on google maps which I won't have access to when I'm there. Is there anyway that I can download a map to my Amazon Fire? for use without an internet connection. Or are there any decent maps available - I have a Nelles map but it's 1:500000 and is pretty useless.

Any other top tips greatly appreciated:)
thank you.

Two options if you have a smart phone.

1: get Copilot with maps of India . You will need a India SIM card but that's all.

2: cheaper! Buy India SIM card and buy some gigabytes of Internet and use google maps.

As far as I know Copilot has bette coverage than google maps for India .

Not saying it's the best options but it's what I will be doing .

It depends how detailed you want, I am currently in Kerala and am getting around fine with a South India tourist map bought for 100 Rupees off some chap on the street.

yep, recommend getting a sim card in India, just make sure your phone is 'unlocked' before you travel.

Secondly, you can 'cache' maps for offline use (download)

Maps.me is free and uses open street maps. Download before you leave.

I would recommend getting a Indian SIM card and internet package.Below are one of the good service providers with better coverage.

1) Idea
2) Airtel
3) Vodafone

Also some recommendations while you are in Kerala.

1) Valparai
2) Athirapally Falls
3) Paranthumpara
4) Calvary Mount
5) Kovalam
6) Munnar/Kodaikanal
7) Vagamon

Coastal route in Kerala is filled with congestion as too many towns on the highway. Please try to avoid that.

Have a safe trip and wonderful journey.

do you still need this?

google maps are fairly accurate (99pct except few unlucky days) and now allows to save offline maps of a limited area...i would use that.

+1 on Maps.me downloaded to a smartphone. It's free and usable without a data or wifi connection. Not sure how it is for India but it was great for me through Africa and northern Asia.
