internet in europe
Hello,
Are you able to suggest how to get internet access while on route in Europe via mobile phone. The idea is to have all the family being able to connect to internet while driving... At present it seems T-Mobile does not have full coverage and it is expensive. Thank you |
In Germany I can recommend Congstar.de. But it depends whether you have a huge data transfer volume or you just want to stay online with the cellphone. My data plan costs just 2€ per month, but is has only 100MBytes transfer volume. After reaching this limit the speed is only slowing down on a modem-speed, but I`m staying still online. Its enough for WhatsApp or mailing, but not for really fast surfing.

The poor man's version if you don't need to be on line all the time is just to use McDonalds (or similar) + hotels free wi-fi. Most adults can survive without internet access from break to break and young children can be distracted with films etc. It's the in-betweenies that can be a problem.

I go out of my way to find places with no wifi. Sadly this is becoming increasing difficult anywhere in the world. I had the misfortune to find the most disgusting toilet in my moment of "urgent need" - on the back of the door was the wifi code, but no bog roll.
I thought I read or heard somewhere that after Oct/Nov 2016 you could use data roaming in EU at the same charge as your home country? |

Is there still no pan-european service provider at a decent price?

Meanwhile best is to get a sim card in every country you go to or use public WIFI hotspots (MCDonalds, Hotels, Restaurants, ...) |

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your replies... I just booked webspot for pocket wifi device It is around 10 euros per day for unlimited internet on the go. |
Why not just use your UK SIM? From June it won't cost anything to use it across the EU.
10 euros a day, 300 euros a month? That's a ridiculous amount of money. |
I tend to agree with AnTyx there - if you are in the UK, consider buying a SIM from Three if you are not already a customer - they already offer mobile date internet roaming as part of their monthly bundles in all their 'at home' countries, which includes the vast majority of mainland Europe already.
