Italy to India (one way). When to do it?
I read other threads on that, but no one really answer to my question.
I plan to do a one month trip, one-way from Milan to New delhy by motorcycle. I have two chances: 1) leaving early June and arriving in India end june (my favourite) 2) leaving half september and arriving in India accordingly. A week in India is planned as well. I generally would prefer to suffer hot than cold, but possibly try to avoid rain. Which is better in your opinion? Thanks! |
Do a google search on "monsoon", and you shall find, that European summertime is the time, when it rains in India (and in fact in parts of Pakistan, too) - a lot! Im not sure, exactly when it´ll start in the north of India, though.
But that´s not the only glitch weather-wise, as some parts of Iran & Pakistan, that you´ll probably need to travel through (unless you go to the Stans&China) are among the hottest places on the planet in the summer. I hear it can really get unbearably hot in there. |

Cool, thanks for the info, i'm leaving August heading that way but dragging my/our heels so ain't going to get to Iran/Pakistan until October so hopefully should miss the wet suff and just be infront of the snow

The area youre most likely to see snow on that route, will be in eastern Turkey. We went through there at the end of October last year, and it was a bit cold, but nothing too bad, maybe around 5-8 Celsius maximum in the daytime, a few degrees below 0 C at night. After crossing into Iran (November 2nd, I think) it started to get steadily warmer all the way through Central Iran, and after we got near the Pakistani border (crossed there Nov 12th or 13th), it was closer to 30 C in the daytime. The monsoons dont bother at that time, either, and the sun was shining from a cloudless sky in Pakistan and North India (crossed into India on Nov 19th, I think).
