Loop in Leh/Ladakh?
 

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about doing a loop around Leh or Ladakh -- that is starting and ending in the same spot. I'm from the States and don't have a motorbike with me, but I spent two weeks motorbiking through Laos and it was really the most amazing experience of my life, and I'd like to do something similar!

Nothing is really planned as of yet, but I assume I would get to Leh/Ladakh from Delhi, which I would get to from Mumbai, where I will be soon (unless someone has a different idea). Then I have about 10 days to acclimate to the altitude, bike around, and return. This would be from July 25-Aug 6th. Does anyone have any ideas of where I should start, where I should go, where I should get a bike, what roads I should avoid, etc, for a week-long trip? I'm not in a rush to do or see anything in particular-- it's definitely the journey, not the destination.

Hi,

I don't know about bikes in Leh/Ladakh but I know a good address to start researching. On my last trip I started in India and rented an Enfield from Bulletwallas.
That's a small organization run by a couple from New Zealand.
They also offer consulting so you may just ask them where and how to get a bike in Leh/Ladakh.
