Maps programs
 

I just got Microsoft Streets&Trips program to map out my voyage. It shows Centeral and South America, but it will not let me route through there.
I can add the stops, but id does not show any actual roads or routes past Guatamala. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a limitation to the program?
Is There a plug-in that I should be looking for?

You're not doing anything wrong. The software is simply limited regarding maps. The same problem is with the European version MS AutoRoute. It has maps of western european couuntries and that is it. There are no possibilities to extend the maps.

I dont know how it is with streets&trips, but the AutoRoute version 2003 has better coverage then 2005. They say that MS switched map providers to a cheaper one (with less coverage). Go figure. But they promise that new maps will be added over time (in new versions).

Anyone thinking of getting AutoRoute, I strongly suggest version 2003. The 2005 has almost no advantages over the 2003, only BIG disadvantages.

You might want to look into Garmin Mapsource (WorldMap, or some other more specific version) for full coverage.
