Morocco Route Planning - over lunch
So the thing is this Sunday I have pretty free - so I was planning on getting the maps out and planning my little three week jaunt down to the nib of Africa - so how's this for an idea.
I'm going to be at The Ace on Sunday from midday, with maps, pens and other bits and pieces to plan the route - but most importantly I'll be armed with a budget to buy as much free tea and coffee to people who would be willing to come along and help me out - over lunch of course! Let me know :-) m |
maps
I scanned a load of maps for Maroc a while back. I stitched some together in photoshop, but most are just raw scans - about 6 scans per map sheet. I can't remember what the Michelin map scale is, but these are much bigger. Lots of detail. The whole set of files is just under 5Gb. If you have an ftp site I can upload to then you are welcome to them. Let me know what you want.
Can also talk through some routes if you want. Can't make lunch though. |
Hey that would be fantastic - thank you - I'll set up a special server this evening and PM you the details. :-) m

Hi Matt
Cant make it for tomorrow, still in Russia having clocked up over 7,000 miles so far on a Dakar. Big place! I am not sure if you are seeking possible companions for Maroc. If so I could be interested in meeting to discuss something for later this year. I would have to take a long weekend off from two wheels as 'ma copine' want to fly out there for a bit of rain free R&R as recompense for having been left alone in London while I explore her country. I should be back in london within a week or so. PM me if interested. Tony |
Hey Tony sounds good - how's Russia? Heading there in July next year so would be good to catch up regardless. I too would have to take a short break in the middle of said journey for Mrs Cashmore to join me for some R&R so perhaps that may work. m

morocco
Hi, just got back from Morocco, June 30th. Def would not recommend going via Rif Mountains. Take the motorway as far as poss if going to the desert. Fuel 98 DHRms for diesel, slightly more for unleaded. Roads excellent all the way to Massouga! vvv hot, had 49 deg celcius mb temp and 58 in my cab on one day in full sun!! Ferry Alg-Ceu was easy, paperwork very straight forward. Would def consider tarifa next time as great stop off place, although Algeceras has main deal BMW and Land Rover if you need parts. Hope helps! will post more details later about trip.

If you had two days two bikes and ...?
If you had two guys, two bikes, two days from spain into Morocco what two things would you do?
Two of us are taking the ferry across from Spain to Morocco and have absolutely no idea where to go. We could just wing it but suspect we might miss the best bits. Have read some really interesting stuff here and Mathews site is excellent. Looking for Morocco for dummies for 2 days - what would you do? Thanks Steven |
