Motorbike Tires in Westafrika
 

Hi,

I'm planing the West-Afrika route with a crossing through DRC for next year.
I'm seeking advice on where Motorbike tires and other supplies (BMW or general) would be available on route.

I've heard about Togo but no details so far.

I've ridden West Africa going down, and I'm currently heading up the East coast.

Fara Moto is a small workshop in Dakar, Senegal. Can't remember if they had tyres. GPS coordinates: 14.71183, -17.43138

CACOMIAF in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire had tyres. GPS coordinates: 5.30091, -4.01041

KTM in Lome, Togo had tyres. GPS coordinates: 6.12862, 1.23922

Nitrojets/ Yamaha in Libreville, Gabon had tyres. GPS coordinates: 0.36996, 9.45840

You can find oils, cleaners etc. at the these places. I'd recommend brining your own sprockets, pads, filters etc. as it could be tricky sourcing these. There's no guarantee any of these places will have suitable tyres for you!

If your route changes for whatever reason: there are places in Namibia and South Africa (plenty!); there's a place in Harare, Zimbabwe; I might be able to help in Zambia; and I understand/expect Nairobi, Kenya, is good for sourcing tyres and parts.
