Myanmar - Overland independent travel possible?
Hi all,
Just wondering if its possible to ride through Myanmar without a guide? Want to enter from Thailand (Mae Sot) into Myawaddy, and exit into India (Tamu - Moreh border crossing) Is this possible without a costly guide? The internet is pretty vague on this. Some sites say no, you need a guide, others say yes, but you need all your accommodation booked in advance. Can someone please help me to clarify the situation there? Many thanks in advance. |
Assume you have also checked on the current situation in Thailand (there is a sticky thread on here), and the need for a carnet for India

Thanks for your reply. No, I was not aware of the current the situation in Thailand. Although reading through the whole thread it sounds like the situation is a fluid one and potentially subject to change. I am aware of the need of a carnet for India and I will sort that out before I leave Australia. |
