Nairobi to Cape Town in 8 weeks - achievable?

Due to work and family commitments I have 8 weeks to do this trip.

Is that easily achievable or will I need to push to get to Cape Town in time?

Thank you

Nairobi to Cape Town

Hey

I think you should be fine. 8 weeks will be ok, taking in to consideration that the entire way is hard surface (tarmac). Border crossings are generally easy going. Never took me more than 30 mins. And you still have the choice of several different routes.
Looking at Nairobi - Dar es Salam - Lilongwe - Lusaka - Durban - Cape Town you are roughly doing 7000 Km. Calculating on 6 weeks driving and 2 weeks rest days, this gives you an average of about 170 Km a day. Easy!

Enjoy :thumbup1:

Watch other Threads here at Hubb.. Isaac did a africa roundtrip in 2.5 months and 42.000 kilometers with his bike (2013)..

We did the west route in 2 months and 20`500km, but with an 4x4 at 2012.. Shure it is possible..

Time is the most valuable what we have - too bad when we can't put more time in such a trip. But honestly - it is better doing such a trip in 2 months, as to miss such a experience completely and to stay at home!

Your trip is a lot shorter, you will have enough time to complete that trip without hurry, seeing animals and so on in a relaxed way without to have to drive each day....

Shit loads of time !!

We took 6 months, but obviously we were slow & did many loops. 8 weeks well you will be doing it leisurely, take your time don't hurry as you have plenty of things to see & time is on your side as it's not that far & roads are great (just watch the fuel shortages in Malawi !!!

Cheers

Hi,

I have the same Idea, i wont to go in 6 - 8 weeks to SA from Nairobi.

Now we have change this Trip, I think it is very sad only to drive to this country very quickly.
You missing great Nature and Word sensations
e.g. In Tanzania Kilimanjaro, Ngorngoro crater and the Serengeti

We make now a new Trip next year Tanzania Uganda Rwanda and two years later Namibia Botswana and SA.

Best
