Old man cogitating
Hi and thanks to those who dropped by to say Hullo at the Travel-Dri stand at the NEC.
My RTW is coming together - leaving UK in February once sober after my 79th birthday. Flying in to China. Three questions: can I ride my own bike in Laos? Ditto for Vietnam? Ditto for Myanmar? Thanks for all info::oops2: |
I can't answer your questions with authority. I think the answer for Myanmar is probably no although I know Peter and Kay Forwood managed it for a short distance.
However I do wish you all the best for your trip. You are an inspiration to us all and I really hope I am still doing the same when I reach your age. |
Old men can't wait
God forbid that I am an inspiration...but thanks for kind words.

Hi Simon,
Have enjoyed reading your previous travel reports. Have been thinking of a similar trip and research on Laos shows: Thailand - Laos - Cambodia - Myanmar Border Crossings: Motorcycle Touring | GT Rider Laos is no problem on your own bike as long as you have bike ownership documents and a passport that is valid for at least another 6 months. As far as Myanmar: Thailand / Myanmar Border Notes | GT Rider seems like a no-go. As far as Vietnam: Laos / Vietnam Border Notes | GT Rider seems like a no-go with caveats. Best luck in your travels. Kindest regards, John Downs |
Gratitude
Thanks, John, great help. I have best part of three months to get sorted.
