Overland to Cape Town from UK
 

Two very good friends have just departed back to their Homeland and have insisted I look at traveling out to see them. However I cannot fly due to a DVT (x 2) problem and anyway would rather like to go overland .
Im in no hurry over this so thought I would seek advise re the best / safest route .

Easy route down the east coast, granny could do it in a wheel chair (as long as she had big arms) pretty safe well as safe as Africa can be ! You can have tar all the way to Mayole (Ethiopia/Kenya Border) then about 300km of gravel and stuff no real drama tho. the chinese are there now grading it and starting to prepare it for tar next year. Then if you wish tar all the way to the poor rugby players arum I mean Sth. Africa. As for the safety aspect I would rather do that than visit some nightclubs on a Sat. Night here in OZ !
