Port Sudan up Red Sea to Egypt
 

Hi, I know there is loads of info with regards the question of travelling up the Red Sea from Port Sudan to Egypt, but is this definately not possible has anyone tried recently.

The red sea road goes through the "disputed" zone between the administrative and political borders of egypt/sudan, plus through a military zone on the egyptian side (not sure whether there's something similar on the sudan side). We went as far south in Egypt as Shelatin on the coast, but even part of that required special permits and a guide.

So I hate to say "definitely not an option", but I really think that's the answer ...
