Road conditions from Tanga to Dar es Salaam along the coast
 

Currently we are in Arusha, planning our route down to Dar es Salaam. In order to avoid the main roads, we would like to cycle via secondary roads down the coast from Tanga, via Pangani, Saadani Nat Park, Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam. However, it is rainy season now and I have no idea what the quality of the roads are during this time of the year. If you have information about this route, it would be more than welcome!

Correction:
I mis read your post, sorry I thought you meant the A14 in the north section so I do not know the road conditions you are looking for.
I can say that if the A14 is bad that is going to be way worse, I would be hesitant to take it during the rainy season.

Last year (around late April) So Start to Mid wet season.

We rode our motorcycles from Tanga to Pangani. The first bit is nice gravel/dirt road with a bit of mud. However as soon as you get to Pangani and cross the river it turned to shit. It was at the time a good solid track through the mud. I was probably travelling at 60km/hr so it wasn't too bad.

Have fun! It will be WAY better than taking the main road!!! I did it twice and hope to never do it again.
