Route from Calais France to Bardonecchia Italy for the Stella Alpina Rally
Well its a last minute decision to do the Stella Alpina, ive been pondering over it for a few month now and decided against it to start with but hey ho you only live once and all that! I have been looking at the best biking roads and I have already made a route down but i have no idea if its any good or full of tolls, i dont mind the odd toll to save pointless roads but i dont want it costing too much of a fortune just for sitting on straight crap roads!
So i was wondering if anyone has done the Belgium - Luxembourg - Germany - Switzerland way and if so could you point me in the right direction please? Hints? Tips? places? recommendations? Cheers :thumbup1: Ryan |
I go down to that area a lot - (our "Euro home" is about 20 miles from Bardonecchia) and Belgium - Lux - Germany - Switz route just takes forever - particularly the Swiss part - unless you use the motorways. I almost always go down through France now but, apart from the area round Calais, use the regular N roads.
Door to door for me is about 15 hrs (from Oxford and including the ferry) using the motorway all the way and costs about £60 in tolls (car - bit less on a bike) - so one long day. Using the N roads mainly takes a day and a half. You save the tolls but you have whatever the cost is for an overnight stop. |
