Shipping Motorcycle Vladivostok - Vietnam or Thailand?

I know there is a few topics about these routes but does anyone have up to date info on shipping a motorcycle from Russia to Vietnam/Thailand/Malaysia ?

Has anyone recently done similar to this ? And how did you do it? Who did you contact ?

I know shipping Vladivostok - South Korea is an option also and maybe part of the full trip..

Also I have a carnet.

Look forward to your replies :)

so much for the update

Hi Brian:

Likely there has been no update because there is very little demand for shipping vehicle out of Vlad to the three countries mentioned.

I've been to Vlad numerous times, and the principle flow of vehicles is into Russia from South Korea and Japan. There is very little (if any) flow of vehicles out of Vlad to any destination.

You can ship anything (motorcycles, giant boulders, boxes full of popcorn) from anywhere to anywhere, provided you are willing to crate it or put it in a container and provided you are not in any great hurry to get it. I suspect that if someone wanted to ship a moto out of Vlad to any location other than South Korea, they would need to crate it up and ship it with a general cargo carrier.

It's possible that there might be a dedicated vehicle (implies truck) ferry operating between Vlad and South Korea - but whether they take passengers along with the vehicles I do not know.

Vlad to BKK

I am aware of one packaged "tour group" that shipped by container about 10 Thai registered/Thai books (titles) motorcycles from Vlad to Bangkok at the end of their guided tour from Thailand to Vlad.

Fluid Thai rules may require you to have a permit/guide to meet your motorbike once out of a container and before on the road....another issue.

The packaged tour group used one container and motorbikes did not need to be crated. The "deal" needed a Russian "fixer," aka freight forwarder, and some $'s to grease some problems at the shipping docks. Carnet was not needed for entry to Thailand, nor is it now.

Vlad is amazing, he will help with crating and there are options of rail or truck cargo if the rider is not in hurry to get the crate asap.

Well from Vladivostok to South Korea or Japan is pretty easy since there is the DBS ferry for passengers and vehicles!
You could continue shipping from South Korea but I would not call that cost effective, twice the cost.

Find the contact details of Yuri of Links ltd, they do a lot of shipping of bikes and cars.

There are a lot of people driving to Vladivostok overland, so there are actually plenty people shipping out of Vladivostok. So I don't agree with PanEuropean.

We used the DBS ferry to Japan with our car for example, and I know of at least 3 other cars and a bunch of bikers going to Vladivostok and shipped from there. Don't have contact details to the bikers though.

Eh??? Not sure what (or who) you are thinking of Dooby - when I wrote 'Vlad' I meant it as an abbreviation for Vladivostok!
