South Africa - Cape Town area query
My folks are flying out to Cape Town and intend to do a bit of driving - question Does anyone know how far it is from Cape Town to Knysna ?
Also roughly how long will it take and by what route ? Lastly anyone know any decent places to stay in Knysna ? :confused1: |
I would say Knysna is about 550km from Cape Town. I use to drive from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town in 8-9 hours (about 900km) using the garden route. Using the garden route will be easiest/quickest (the N2 road).
Not sure re nice places to stay, sorry. Haven't gone through there for a few years now... |
Capetown - Knysna will be 480km and will take about 5 hours on the N2.
If they have enough time, follow the coast from Capetown, visit Gordons Bay and Hermanus and stay one night over halfway in Swellendam. Just do a search on Google for "B&B Knysna" and you will get at least a 100. Arthur |
... and while your folks are in Knysna they should see some genuine S.A. scenery and travel north towards the Karoo via Oudtshoorn across the Swartberg Pass (gravel, but good road) to Prince Albert.
If travelling with a more rugged vehicle than a car, they might even take the turn-off to Gamkas Kloof/De Hel, a fascinating and remote retreat inside the Swartberg. Hans |
Thanks all of you for the replies :thumbup1:
