Spain or Italy!!??
Hey there!!
First of all I#m new to the site and want to thank you guys for helping make up my mind on what to get!! I haven't ridden for about 9 years and always put it to the side somehow... Until i met the new lady in my life!! Anywas not gonna bore u with all these details... :)) eventhough some would love it I'm sure! We're getting married in Denmark soon(second week in sep) and is wondering where to go.. Will we fly over to spain rent a bike there and have a week of honey there or shall we stick my bike on a train to italy and scoot around there!!?? or just rentsomething there.. (We're in Frankfurt, me south african and she's russian)Since i'm only picking up the tenere on Saturday, u know I#m not 100% ready to let it run free for such great distances.. Also my girly monster never liked these iron horses before so better ease her into the whole thing yes... So my question..?? SPAIN OR ITALY |
Hi Stephan,
Congrats and all that...... In my experience, having travelled with ladies on the pillion in both countries, I would suggest Spain. The general standard of driving there is slightly less frenetic and slightly less "latin" than Italy, and the Spanish police have been having a real crackdown on driving standards in parts of the country. Haven't heard that's happening in Italy. (I got fined for speeding in Spain a few years ago, cash on the spot and not very cheap. In Italy, you get berated for going too slow!) Also, again in my experience, you'll have to keep a guard on your lady less in Spain than Italy, but, on the other hand, she may enjoy the extra attention! Cheers |
Hey thanks so much!! hmm.. my best mate puts me in one direction and then i've get another..... Still leaves me with the same balance.... Here I qoute him.
''Italy!!! Ferarri, Ducati, Mafia, Pizza, Hot BABES! WLF! Hoekom dink jy is Rossi so goed! --- VS --- Spain: bulls. Wow...Ek dink dit sal Italy wees!'' ''.......WhY do u think Rossi is so good..... vs spain.... wow i think it'll be italy'' hmmmm.. :( |
Yes, I'd agree with your friend there, particularly as my trips to both countries have been, at different times, on a big Ducati and a big Aprilia. But if your wife-to-be is a little nervous of riding on the back for the first time, and in strange traffic in a strange country, she'd probably be less nervous in Spain than Italy.
Now Rossi, well, he left Italy and moved to London! (Maybe he still lives in London, I don't know), and the last time I looked, the smaller MotoGP classes were being dominated by the Spanish. But if you can ride so your wife is comfortable and confident on the back, you should have a great time in either country......... |
HEHEHE!!
good one thanks man!!! Think it's probably gonna be spain just looking at some routes down there.. Also!! can always go to italy a bit later!!! :Beach: Now to rent a bike there! |
Italy every time.

AHOY! Thanks John!!

Just to confuse you - how about Sicily?!
A smaller, quieter version of Italy with pretty good roads and not much traffic if you avoid the obvious routes. Good food, good wine, good hospitality! |
