Spare parts to uahuaia
 

I am in the earliest stages of planning California to ushuaia. I will be on a KLR 650. Aside from tubes and tires i don't know what spare parts to take. Obviously, I can only take the most likely to be needed. I can get along great in any Latin American country, but i must confess that I am mechanically challenged. any ideas/recommendations? Also, I'm not sure how many weeks it will take. I plan on doing only a little sightseeing, but stopping In peru to visit friends and see some sights again. I wil be riding back and dropping the bike off in Paraguay.Thanks!

haven't been in Ushuaia yet, but i have some recent experience with shipping parts to SA for a reference. Although the actual shipment takes about a week, it's very unpredictable how long your package needs to go through customs. For Bolivia it can take 30 days to get a package from Germany to La Paz! So you have to assume it takes a looong time.

IMHO it's not worth using an expensive courier and their express service. Their durations don't calculate customs delay.

Hope someone has recent info on this, i'm curious too!
