Bankrupt :( sorry if it's been posted somewhere else and even sorrier if you have booked and paid to travel with them.

It's a shame- they were nice people- always bad news to hear of companies folding.

I've booked a P&O Ferry and guess what?............
they are still charging fuel surcharges :eek3:
I mean..... with the price of fuel getting lower and lower (finally good news!) for a company to still levy fuel surcharges like that, especially when times are getting harder for all, smacks of......:censored:

But there is a reason P&O and sundry others haven't passed on fuel price reductions. It's all to do with when they bought the fuel. All these types of companies bulk buy their fuel in advance (no pulling up at the pumps in your ferry) and so are constantly gambling on fuel prices. When it looked like they were going up and up they bought in to it thinking they'd be getting cheap fuel in the long term. They lost out, fuel is dropping but they've paid in advance, so they pass this on to us.

That's the basic economics of it, of course they'll pop fuel surcharges on in a flash and drag their heels as long as possible when it comes to dropping them.
