Stop between Dortmund and Leipzig

Hi,
I'm off to see a mate in the Czech Republic (near Knezmost in the north). I get off the train at Calais on my bike at 9.41am on Saturday 26 July and will have been on the road for 3 hours by then.

I plan to ride another 5, leaving me 5 hours to do the next day.
5 hours should see me past Dortmund so can anyone recommend a place to stop please? It'll be late afternoon so somewhere I can have a nice wander round and get some grub.

On the way back I may make 2 overnight stops if there's something cool in Germany to see on the way...any suggestions?
Thanks Olly

Lots to see

There are many options when crossing Germany. Try to avoid the Autobahn, its often congested, and no fun to ride. I recommend to use the Autobahn to pass bigger cities and flat areas. But whenever there are hills on your route, take the smaller roads through the hills. A good option to stay 150km east of Dortmund is Villa Löwenherz in Lauenfoerde on the Weser River, Germany´s first motorcycle only hotel. [url=http://www.villa-loewenherz.de/theidea.html]Villa L

Going to Czech republic you may be better off avoiding Dortmund all together. Head south of it. From Calais via Brussels then toward Köln (Cologne) that route will take you into the Sauerland region and the Dams of Dambusters targets. Its a stunning area of Germany to ride through and you can exit the area close to Kassel and pick up the route toward Chemnitz and CZ.
I'm not around that week unfortunately.

As for stopping depends on what your after, the sauerland area is full of camping b&b and hotels, large tourist infrastructure for winter skiing and summer for bikers, cyclists and hikers
