Sudan Visa and Ferry Mozi to Tanzania
Hi
We have heard rumours that Sudan is not issuing visas for travllers coming from the south wishing to enter Sudan from Ethiopia. Can anyone who has travelled this way in the last month please advise if they had any issues with visas from Sudan issued at either Nairobi or Addis? Please no response from people who have not travelled this route in the last month or two. We also call for info from anyone who has travelled north through Mozi crossing into Tanzania via Ruvuma river at Quionga to Mtwara? We are receiving conflicting reports as to whether the ferry is running or not? If anyone knows if Tanzania will issue visas on this border then that would be a bonus. Thanks David and Kat www.duksjourney.net |
hi,
there is a ferry over the Rovuma. we travelled in 09/2004 coming from mozambique. for a car you will pay around 100 usd, we paid for two bikes in a small doughout canoe 10 usd plus a tip. the last 50kms before the Rovuma is deep sand. we had a visa as we arrived in Tanzania, but they had list of visa prices on the wall - so I guess they issue visa at this border. we got a visa crossing from Burundi at a small border crossing (20usd for a 14 day transit - other visas are 50usd) sorry cant tell you anything about Sudan; we are now in Libreville Gabon enjoy mika ------------------ |
Hi Mika
Thanks for the info. $100 US are they having a laugh? We have paid about 2 euro for our ferries so far on the west coast and a max of 20$US coming from Botswana to Zambia. Guess we'll just have to see when we get there. I assume that is why the bridge is taking over 10 years to build. To much profit on the ferry. Cheers DuK |
