The Baltic States
Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip for Spring next year to the Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, with the intention of calling in to Kaliningrad, if current Russian attitudes allow. From there I'm planning crossing into Finland then across the Baltic and home via Sweden and Denmark. I'm looking for any advice. Has anyone done a similar trip? What are your thoughts, top tips and opinions? Thanks in advance, I shall look forward to hearing from you. Mark Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Baltic States
Hi Mark,
I can help you with some ideas. Pls send me a privat mail: urmas.sildnik@gmail.com. Cheers, Urmas |
I did a similar trip last summer. It's a nice trip, but there are no real surprises or issues. The beaches are nice, I like them more than the ones in Southern Europe, but of course the weather might not be great.
Riga and Tallin's old town are nice, so I would try to make sure you have enough budget to stay in hotels there and don't have to camp everywhere (if you're camping at all). The spit between Kaliningrad and Kleipeida is very nice; I stayed in the town Nida (?), which is nice but it can be hard to find a room there in the high season, you should probably book ahead. |
My trip a few years back.

Hi Mark - I'm thinking of doing the same trip as soon as the weather permits in 2016. I've only just started my research but happy to share it with you if this is of any interest.

Hi guys,
Thank you so much. Top tips, Motoreiter! Thanks for the link to your trip, Wildman, it sounds like you had a brilliant time. I'm thinking that maybe Norway should be added to the mix. Maybe next time...... Brett, were you thinking of Kalliningrad? I quite fancy the Russian exclave (or is it an enclave? I always get the two mixed up. I'm looking for advice on visas. What I've seen on the internet is often contradictory.......... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Here are pics from our trip to northern Poland, Kaliningrad and part of the Baltics last year. Very interesting area with lots of history!

UK through Baltic states to St Petersburg
Hi Mark,
Apologies for hijacking your thread. Planning a similar trip from the UK. A few of us planning to ride the northern route to St Petersburgh, stay for a week then a slightly more southern route back. If anyone has any info on the Russian process for getting bikes in, that would be much appreciated. Kind Regards Bob |
