Turkmenistan Kazakhstan border crossing
 
Anyone had recent experience of the road from Turkmenbashi to Kazakhstan via Begdash? I am thinking of routing that way next month (June) on a heavily laden road bike VFR? Any advice welcome.

Crossed in 2014 in a 4x4. About 50 km of really nasty rough, rutted hard-packed mud.

From all accounts getting the visa to enter Turkmenistan is the biggest headache most people face.

I sent an application to the Turkmenistan Embassy in London, and arranged to collect my visa at the Garabogaz border. I was using an EU passport.

Thank you. I plan to go there next year during a world tour . I'll try to get all visas for central asia and Russia from France
