This has been discussed a number of times on the HUBB - a search will find all sorts of answers.
1. DON't use a fake - yes you can go to jail in some very unpleasant countries jails. 2. Contact NZ AA - they can supply a carnet. 3. Assuming SA menas South Africa - most of Africa requires a carnet. ------------------ Grant Johnson Seek, and ye shall find. ------------------------ One world, Two wheels. www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
Another thought for those considering "fake" or "forged" carnets. Don't forget to consider those travellers coming behind you! If a country has trouble with too many travellers passing fake documents, perhaps they could simply refuse ALL carnets in the future, making it difficult or impossible for all of us to travel with our own vehicle through that particular place.
As much as a pain as the carnet may be, it was developed to make our travels easier. Imagine having to post deposits and deal with the import requirements at all the different countries you plan to visit along your route... Sorry if I am preaching to the choir, but traveling with a fake carnet seems pretty irresponsible to me... -Dave |
