UK to Turkey/morocco

Is there a carnet needed for any of these journey's. I'm planning a ride to turkey this summer and then morocco in autum I'm not planning on a hudge excursion more of a quick 2 weeker in prep for a longer trip when ever i get the cash.

Nope, no carnet needed. By in order with insurance (green card,...) and you'll be fine. If you take a overnight ferry to Marocco try to find the guy on the boat to fill out the papers already on the boat. Makes it a lot easier to pass the border on land.

I'm thinking of a quick trip to Istanbul in a few months. The first part looks easy enough but what routes are best thereafter? Decent roads are more important than scenery. Thanks, Ian

please define 'decent'! One mans ideal road is hardpack with mud and sand sections, anothers is glass-smooth tarmac and no cat's eyes.......

The mountain roads up to lake Orhid (Albania/Macedonia (FYROM)/Greece borders) have some great switchbacks, and the road down to Split in Croatia is one of the best fast tarmac roads in europe, proper 'busa territory!

Sorry fo the late reply, I'd like a fast route with ease of getting fuel as I can only get about 120 miles per tank. I have business in Istanbul and usually fly but thought I might ride instead. I've done plenty of long stuff before, mainly USA and am doing the Himalayas in the summer but I don't know the routes East of central Europe. Ian
