Ukraine/Belarus to Russia blocked??
 

I have been using Viamichelin to try to plan a route to include Kursk and Stalingrad, It wont let me use either the Belarus or Ukrainian borders to cross into or out of Russia. Is something going on there? are these borders blocked?

I am trying to create a circular route as I dislike returning by the same route.

No these borders are not blocked unless war was declared in the last hour or so, who knows what viamichelin's problem is. Maybe just look at a map to plan the route?

I recommend staying off the main highways in Russia, which are full of truck traffic and police. IMHO the smaller roads are much more relaxing, safer, and interesting.

Google maps can't even attempt to calculate the route :(

heh, that route is pretty whacked!

Can't you calculate a distance from donetsk to the Ukrainian/Russian border, and then from the border to Stalingrad? Any of the major highways in that area should have a border crossing point.

I can try to look at a map this weekend to see what border crossing looks good, but may forget...

I guess follow the traffic should do it. maybe run along the coast road in.
