Vehicle storage Cairo
 

Good day Fellow Travelers,
I am planning a trip to Cairo in 2018. I want to know the following:
1. Place to store my Isuzu KB 250 4x4 camper for 2 weeks, which is preferably close to the Airport.
2. The best place to camp near the Pyramids for 3 days.
3. Other places of interest to visit.
I am on a shoe string budget and really want to do this trip.
Your help will be appreciated.

if you're on a shoe string budget I'd recommend avoiding entering a vehicle in Egypt altogether. Plently of information about overlanding into Egypt on the forum, and it's absolutely worth a good search and read prior to advancing your plan.

I'm actually unsure of the possibility to momentarily leave your vehicle behind but the responsible authority for temporary imports is right there next to the aitport where quite a number of vehicles are impounded under surveillance until their owners pay hefty charges and deal with all the bureacratic crap they can (and will) throw, in Arabic. Expect to pay, argue, pay again, argue, be lost, pay more, stay cool, then repeat a few times. I had almost 5 yrs of it. Awful.

Have you sorted out the Carnet yet. Said to be the most expensive country for carnet deposit amounts

Squire, will it be safe to leave the vehicle in Sudan and then travel further by bus? I will explore overlanding from there to Cairo.
Tony, I am still in the planning stages, but know about the expensive carnet.
