Vietnam things not to miss
 

Planning a fly / hire bike to Vietnam 3-4weeks last week in August & September. Having only just decided I'm wondering how to do it. Will be 2 up on something small I guess, slow going. Wondering about doing North to South or other way round, flying in at one end and out at the other, which must be possible. Or do I stay south and inc a trip to Cambodia? or stay north and inc Laos? Pain having to go back to where I started to catch flight back home so quite happy to mix and match flights if needed.

Not sure as yet what we will want to see but open to recommendations a few "touristy" things but mostly people and scenery happy to get out and sleep in a bush or a 5star hotel. I like the colour green so plenty of that :rofl:

Advice & opinions sort on the following:
Has anyone toured in Aug/Sept - What to expect?
Fly in at Hanoi or HCMC?
Cambodia or Laos ? Is it possible in 3-4weeks?
How bad are the mosquito? my wife is a bit of a bug magnet.
Should I book a hire bike or are there loads available when I get to either Hanoi or HCMC?
Must see & must do things?
I'm sure there is loads more I need to find out but some advice to start will at least help decide on where to fly in /out of
