Visa for Mauritania
Hello there,
we heard about getting a visa for mauretania at the border of the western Sahara and Mauretania at Nouâdhibou for only 10 euro. These travelers passed there almost 2 years ago. are there some people who can confirm this? it will be quite silly to get there and then hear that you can drive all the way back to Casablanca. or is there a possibility to get a visa in Marrakech? Greetz Gert :palm: |
3 day transit visa is available at the border without any major problems. It is renewable in Nouadhibou or Nouakchott.
Otherwise a one month visa is available in Rabat. Search the HUBB for the GPS co-ordinates. The embassy in Rabat is on the same street as the Malian embassy. |
belgium
You can also get your visas at their embassy in Brussels.
Bring passports in the morning, fill in your aplication-form (download one in advance or use the one they provide), hand them over with, if I remember right 2 (passport)photo's, pay 32 euro's and the're ready the next day. Visa's for longer stays (one month/two months/etc) and multiple-entry-visa's are also possible (if you think of returning the same way). I'm not sure if your visa start on the given date or the actual day of arrival. have fun, |
That was our first idea... getting the visa here in Belgium before we leave.
but we will take some time to get there. 3 weeks to get to Morrocco. visiting friends on the way there. then we take some time in Morroco. so till the time we get in Mauritania our visa will be expired or we need to get a very long one. we figure it out. G |
No worries, the visa can start (or start from) any date in the future. You have to fill in the date of your arrival on the aplication-form and that can easily be a date three or four months from the date you pick-up your visa. Only thing is you will have to make somesort of timetable (with enough room for some flexability) in your plans.
BTW it is easy to get an extension of your visa in the country when it's about to expire (same procedure as with the three-day-transit-visa). |
Any Updates on Visas..??
|
Hi,
Mauritania visa's are no longer issued at the border as far as I know. All the recent info I've seen has had people getting them in Rabat. Have a search in the Sahara section, there'll be plenty of info there. Happy travels Sam |
Mauri embassy in Rabat was pretty effective in winter 2009. It took only one day to prepare visa. Be there when they open in the morning and you possible have your visa ready in the afternoon!
