West Africa -Nov-Mar 2010 - what to see, festivals etc?
 

I am at the early stages of planning a three month trip in west Africa: mostly Senegal, Guinea and Mali. Apart from the Festival au Desert are there any musical or cultural events I should plan around that anyone knows of?

Also anyone know much about guides in the off-the-beaten track parts of Mali to explore the regions music and culture? I am thiking the area around Bamako down to Guinea...

Hey maybe we'll see you around. We're travelling at the beginning of November through Europe, Morocco, Mauri..., Mali... etc
What we're doing is trawling through the africa overlanding websites. There's loads of info on what to do and tracks there, plus gps points. Also go to your nearest travel agency. They've always got brochures on all kinds of stuff and free...

i must see if the film festival in ougadougou is happening this year and there is the music festival in segou in february
