West Norway
Hi team hope we are all well,
Just to add I’m including anywhere else in Norway to (won’t let me change the title) Just wondering if any one has any general suggestions for West Norway from the UK starting to plan my trip for next year with dad and super excited for it, quite a big thing for us both as we didn’t know if he was gonna be here last year to do it with his stage 3b/4 prostate cancer he’s doing really good though through his radiotherapy n it’s trip planning time :scooter: Planning on picking some areas to explore n spending time in each area rather than rushing through n covering huge miles. Both really into history and stuff, Planning on going through Denmark as well to visit some family which should be cool |

My reckomendations:
Lofoten https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lofoten Trollstigen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trollstigen It is far north. So the riding season is short Not: North cape is more a touristic trap. |
Thanks Erik really appreciate the reply :)
Was thinking about Lofoten |
TJ Hansen
Hi, I was there 3yrs ago and as part of my research I watched a guy called TJ Hansen (I believe) on youtube and he came up with a few good tips. It's a beautiful Country and I hope you both have a great time!
All the best |

1. Suleskardveien and the detour down to Lysebotn

The road over Valdresflye R51 and turn left into R15 through a valley and the tiny town of Skjåk, then take R63 through Geirangerfjorden and continue R63 including a short ferry hop to Trollstigen (if its open this year?) Then contiune towards from Åndalsnes to Kristiandsund R64 which includes the famous Atlantic ocean road (some say its dangerous - which isnt true at all!) https://maps.app.goo.gl/B2YooTmEhmDL...s.preview.copy 3. The R9 through the valley of Setesdal is gorgous too and very scenic. Also the nearby area around Dalen, Fyresdal, Seljord R36, R38, R41, R42, R450 etc etc. |
Thanks :) awesome info really appreciate the reply

And if you travel further north - north of Trondheim that is which isnt considered west Norway a good ride is the coastal highway R17 that starts from E6 (the main north-south road of Norway) just north of Steinkjer and goes all the way to just outside Bodø. Its the scenery that is nice, not the road itself. Its a lot of ferries (6-7 if I remember correctly) so take it easy and smell the flowers along the road.
From Bodø you can take another ferry over to the Lofoten islands, then Vesterålen islands - another ferry hop to the island of Senja and further to Tromsø (the biggest city in northern Norway) But all these roads are not considered west-Norway though speaking as a norwegian. |
Thanks Snakeboy yep I probably should have opened it up a bit more than just west Norway to the north etc shame it doesn’t let you change the title :)
Thanks for the suggestions very much appreciated looking forward to planning it all out :scooter: |
