When to cross Russia

I'm sure this is in another section and heaps of people will no doubt tell
me that but I want to know when is the best time to cross Russia
from west to east in regards to weather as I have done a Trans Africa
in the rainy season and don't wish to inflict this upon myself again.
Any constructive comments will be appreciated.
Thanks
Luke

General route? Mid may to End September normally works.

If you want to do stuff in the far north of Siberia, then you should plan on doing the northern bits between Mid June and Early September.

I was going to say if you wanted to avoid the rainy season, then do Russia in January - February ... it never rains then.

That would probably be in the summer, the warmest period being June, July & August. May and September could also be okay, but it can vary on the year.

No "rainy season" in those latitudes - but does not mean it could not rain in the summer. In BBC´s website you can check "weather averages", that might give you some idea of what to expect. And winter is something that I´d avoid completely if on a bike, it gets dangerously cold.
