Where to get maps
:thumbup1: Hi there everyone, I have had the Michelan map of Morroco on order from Waterstones online for about three weeks and am getting frustrated now, does anyone have any ideas of where to get maps from online?

Maps
Check out Stanfords: http://www.stanfords.co.uk/
They have a massive shop in Covent Garden (Long Acre) with tons of maps of anywhere at any scale! Map Paradise! Prices of maps varies but seem fair. cheers |
I got our Morocco map from Amazon. It came within a couple of days of ordering even though it was just before xmas.

:thumbup1: Thanks for all of your advice guys! Nice One!!! :thumbup1:

Went to stanfords online in the end ordered yesterday afternoon and it arrived in the post this morning! Absolutely A1! (and it was £3 quid cheaper). :thumbup1:

I went to Stanfords shop in long Acre two weeks ago specifically to get the Michelin Morocco map (742). They didn't have it ! But I bought 2 copies off the shelf in Daunts in Marylebone High Street, London W1. A quaint 'olde worlde', but very well stocked, specialist travel bookshop. http://www.dauntbooks.co.uk/ |
That odd!
Thats a bit odd cos that is the very map that they got to me within less than 24 hrs! :funmeteryes:
|
And odder still, Stanfords online http://www.stanfords.co.uk/go/morocco/
today says "This map is currently not available. New edition is due out in May 2007." But the good thing is we both have it now. See you there? Thinking of a going in April on a bike with a pal in a 4X4 - for a week or two "boys fun on wheels" in the loose ! |
Sounds like Fun!!
Gonna take the missis on here first proper trip so will only be doing roads and light pistes. Maybe next time she will let me play in the loose stuff!!
Cheers tsbnoise :clap::funmeteryes::mchappy: |
Maps
I've purchased numerous maps for eastern Russia, China, Mongolia and USA from an online shop called
omnimap.com reasonable, prompt and a very good selection. Swaino |
I would have thought www.themapshop.co.uk would be your best bet. They're just down the road from you at Upton Upon Severn. A well-stocked shop with on-line ordering too.

Maps for everyone - everywhere
Checkout this website and download the FREE software. Load up a map from the site and you will have most of the roads on tap. Just print them off. It does not have topography though, you do not have to be a GPS expert, most of it is intuative, but if you do have GPS then you can download or upload your route. It even has a pre-planned Alaska to Ushuaia route on tap, plus several S.American trips. Try this link GPS TrackMaker
Here is a screenshot http://www.gpstm.com/pictures/screen0.gif You can also scan in your own maps, or Google Earth shots, all sorts of stuff. It's great and like I said, IT'S FREE. If you get stuck in working with it, email me or reply to this post, I'm no expert, but someone will help I'm sure.
