Zimbabwe accommodation
I'm looking to travel from Victoria Falls to Francistown in Bots through Zim via Tsholotsho and the Plumtree Gate (basically avoiding Bulawayo) Anyone got any accommodation ideas towards Plumtree as I doubt I'll make it in one day?
Cheers Reggie |
Short answer - no. But there is a cheap camp ground in Bulawayo. I was there two weeks ago. So if you are stuck you can head for that. (You can also get unleaded in Bulawayo which isn't always true in Zim at the moment.)

idea.
hi, i went to school in plumtree... there is a small hotel and casino about 6km past plumtree towards botswana. When we had sports weekends at school some of our parents used to stay there and they sometimes allowed camping.
It was called omadoo lodge i think. |
Bulawayo's a nice place, I liked it there, stayed for over a week.
As well as the camp site there are two hostels, both on Twelth Ave / 3rd Street to the east of the town centre. Heading away from the centre (eastwards) there's a backpackers, close to the Bulawayo Athletic Club, on the right of the road. A little further east, after 12th Ave becomes 3rd St., there's a YHA hostel, on the left. Don't remember the name of it but it has the YHA logo on the sign at the entrance gate. Very helpful proprietors there. The Cape to Cairo pub right in the centre is worth a visit for the atmosphere. |
Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that I'm looking for a lodge or similar rather than camping. I'll check out places in Bulawayo and see if I can google the Plumtree hotel.
