China's dirty hands all over this. I believe a state of emergency has been declared for up to a year. Likely the overland route will be closed for even longer with this development.

Some very bad news for the people of Myanmar, for the democratic development in the country and for general situation in the country.

Yes it will probably be bad news for overlanders too, although thats not what we should focus on now.
