Crossing myanmar - how to do

Hello riders, I'm an italian guy and with a friend of mine we are planning a long trip from Italy to Vietnam on two LML STAR 125cc (the Indian vespa). It's our first long trip on a motorbike and we are collecting information.

I've been reading alot about crossing myanmar on this forum, I red people join together to share costs.. bus still Is not clear to me how really it works. these are my questions:

1. Shall we ask myanmar visa on embassy in Inda or directly to the border?

2. How can we arrange a guided tour?

3. What it's included in the price we pay?

4. Where do we get Visa to get in Thailand?

5. Wich kind of visa can we get for thailand?

thank you very much!
I look forward to be helpful for someone else after having done this trip!

1. Myanmar visas can be applied online nowadays, you will find information online and you need to upload a correct size passport photo. Or of course at any Myanmar embassy or consulate abroad.

2. By contacting an agency/company that offers such guide services. There are many reports here on this forum of Myanmar crossings so it canbe an idea to search more here. Google is also your friend.

3. That is something you have to get information from the company you choose to help you. But normally the price includes the guide services and accomodation and breakfast at the accomodation. You will have to pay other meals and drinks yourself, fuel, enteance fees if you go to museums, sightseing spots, national parks etc.

4. In any Thai embassy or consulate abroad. Thailand have also a visa excemption system that allows foreigners from many countries to enter and stay for a while in the country without any visa. BUT - be aware that citizen of some countries are given a 30 days permission to stay and citizen of other countries are only given 15 days permission of stay. Its the "bigger" countries citizen that ate given 30 days such as US, UK, Germany, France and a few more. I cannot exactly remember if italians are given 15 or 30 days but you can easily find out that by checking the thai embassys netsite in your country.

5. There are many kinds of visas to Thailand but there is only one that I think will suit you and that is "tourist visa" which is 60 days. That visa can be extended with another 30 days while your in the country at any Immigration office - which give you a total of 90 days in the country.

I am not sure about that. If there is such a question on the visa applying form you should of course answer correct. Its more likely that you have to mention your "point of entry" than means of transport.

Maybe some of the folks that actually have crossed Myanmar with own vehicles can help our italian friend here?

crossing Myanmar

Hi there

Please find the comment bellow:

1. Shall we ask myanmar visa on embassy in Inda or directly to the border?

FOR LAND CROSSING BORDER WITH YOUR MOTOBIKE, PLEASE ARRANGE YOUR VISA IN ADVANCE BECAUSE THERE IS NO VISA ISSUE THERE ACCEPT IF YOU FLIGHT IN.

2. How can we arrange a guided tour?

AS THE GUYS AT Vietnam Motorbike Tours | Crossing Border Motorcycle Tours THEY DO OVERLAND BORDER CROSSING MYANMAR TOUR SO THEY MAY HAVE INFORMATION.

3. What it's included in the price we pay?
AS I KNOW IT DEPENDS ON NUMBERS OF PERSON IN THE GROUP, EXPECT 120 - 150 USD/DAY FOR A GUIDED TRIP WITH PERMITS

4. Where do we get Visa to get in Thailand?
IF YOU HAVE CARNET DE PASSAGE EN DOUANE THEN YOU CAN GET A VISA AT THE BORDER MYANMAR/THAILAD BUT BE PREPARED AND TRY TO GET IT IN ADVANCE IT IS BETTER. YOU CAN FOLLOW THE LINKS
New Rules for Visa on Arrival | ThaiEmbassy.com
Visa Rules - Visa on Arrival, Tourist Visa, Non-Immigrant Visa

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT FROM MYANMAR YOU CAN CROSS A NEW BRIDGE INTO LAOS (SINCE 1 MAY 2015)

5. Wich kind of visa can we get for thailand?
TOURIST VISA IS THE BEST WAY AND SEAM TO BE EASIER THAN OTHERS
